The distance can seem miles
Between the woman and the child
Though she longs to become one
A world of pain has her undone
She feels with all her senses
Tries to keep from building fences
But, there's a child to protect
And a woman who must reflect
With a heart that's turned to dust
She waits for true love she can trust
While the kiss of love escapes her
The breath of life sustains her
Held hostage in her soul
The child gives the dice a roll
The woman weighs her chances
While the child, she smiles and dances
She often gives more than she takes
You'll never know how deep she aches
So, give her room for her mistakes
Help her grow the love she makes
A woman knows the price she'll pay
