dignity

Eyes of gold will seek what troubles the meek
Those in the valley aspire to the peak
It’s hard to get there with these weights on my feet
I’ve been running forever on this hopeless street
So show me where I can get away,
A place of dignity where I can stay.
I’ve known desperation to be welcoming
When hope is forsaken and trying’s too hard
The mountain’s too much for those who are settling
A place for the homeless, the helpless, the scarred
Is the bottom of all where big men discard
Those who keep trying, to victims they’re lying
Darkness holds whispers I keep from the light
Passion comes easy in the dead of the night
Silence falls heavy on the ears of the dwellers
Survivors of falling from mountainous tiers
I fall every day when I get to the top
The place I can’t keep with dignity, Stop.
